Return of the Jedi, VHS, Fullscreen, CBS/Fox video, USA 1986

North-American sell-through release from 1986, marking the home video debut of Return of the Jedi. This tape is easily confused with the re-issue from 1987. This 1986 version does not have the "The First 10 Years" trailer at the beginning, but has the "VHS trilogy" trailer at the end. The sleeves and tape label are identical, and both bear a copyright date of 1986, so the only way to tell them apart is to play them. Comes in the US-standard cardboard sleeve. These show up quite frequently on the 2nd hand market, some even shrinkwrapped. I have included two examples of cassette housings I have for this release. The variations are not important, but notice that on one of my tapes the label glue has started to break down and seep into the label. Eventually all glue will expire, but mostly it just dries up. Watch out for this when playing your tapes, as the player will heat up the tape and loosen the glue, sometimes causing the label to come off inside your machine. Ask me how I know...
