The Empire Strikes Back, Fullscreen, VHS, CBS/Fox Video UK, 1984
Version "B": Copyright notice and trailershow at the beginning.

This was the first available rental tape in the UK, and was issued in both VHS and Betamax formats. The film is in the cropped "Fullscreen" ratio.

I have found two versions of the VHS edition of this release, one with a trailershow at the beginning, and one that goes straight into the film (see it here). The copy listed here has the trailershow. I have two copies of this VHS with the trailershow, and both of my Betamax copies have it as well.

As you can see from the pictures above, I have two variants of this tape, one with a sticker label and black case flap, the other with screenprinted label and a brown flap. The contents of the tapes are exactly the same, so these are just production variations.

Look for the original cases with the CBS/FOX name engraved on the top. Many copies around today have the case replaced with a generic black or transparent one. The original CBS/FOX cases switched from grey to white ca. 1985 but there seems to be some overlapping with this film showing up in either.
