Star Wars Episode II was issued by Thai distributor CVD International in 2002 (The back specifies that the disc was produced in Nov. 2002, but the files are dated October of that year). This is the Thai dubbed version (a subtitled version was also available). The title card and crawl have been rendered in Thai, but the end credits remain in English. The alien languages are subtitled in Thai.
Before the film, there is a "Fox Spotlight" title card announcing "Behind the scenes" material, but then just skips straight to the copyright notice and the film begins. I am confused by the inclusion of the "CeQuadrat" logo at the beginning of each disc, as this is a company I associate with pirated VideoCDs. Either they are a legitimate company, and their logo has been misused on several bootlegs, or this release is a bootleg too? I am leaning towards this being an official release, but I'm having doubts. The film is spread across 3 discs, which come in two separate jewel cases. The 2 CD cases are housed in a lovely slipcase which is so tight you can hardly get the cases out. The second jewel case has no artwork inserts, which cheapens the feel of the set. The movie would have fit quite nicely on two discs, but at the end of the programme they have included the Star Wars Connections featurette and 5 deleted scenes, thus necessitating a third disc. The featurette and deleted scenes are subtitled in Thai, with original English sound. |
