Star Wars Episode III, VCD, Excelmedia, China, 2005

Star Wars Episode III was released on VideoCD in mainland China by local distributor Excelmedia in 2005. The set comes in a slipcase-within-a-slipcase, housing two jewel cases holding three discs. It's an impressive looking set with an accompanying 2006 mini-calendar even!

The film comes in English with Chinese subtitles. The title card and crawl are left in English, as are the end credits. The disc starts with an Excelmedia logo, followed by a registration card and copyright notices in both Chinese and English.

While other territories managed to squeeze the movie onto two discs, this release has split it across 3 sides running approximately 40 minutes each. The side breaks are not carefully chosen, and haphazardly stop mid-scene. I have no idea what the benefit was to splitting across 3 discs, as VCD has a fixed bitrate, so there's no quality to be gained.
