Star Wars Episode II, VCD, CeQudrat "Superbit" Bootleg, Thailand 2002

A nice little bootleg I bought on eBay in 2003. The video and audio are sourced from the official widescreen DVD, with the anamorphic squeeze intact. Unfortunately the VideoCD format does not support anamorphic functionality, so the image appears squeezed unless your TV can compensate. English subtitles for the hard of hearing are burned into the image and are on permanently. By necessity, the film comes split over two discs, as the VideoCD format can only fit approx. 67 minutes to a disc. The files on the disc are dated September 2002.

The disc starts with an intro for a company called CeQuadrat, which I suspect is not a legitimate distributor. The packaging or discs do not feature their branding, but there is a Crown emblem on there. I'm not sure if that Crown means anything. The CeQuadrat intro reappears at the beginning of side 2 as well. The same outfit is responsible for a different Episode II bootleg, which was sourced from an actual in-theatre camcorded showing, with files dated May 2002.

The "Superbit" boast is misleading (duh), as VCDs have a fixed bitrate (nice little geektrivia, there).

Starring Hayden ChristenseR, no less :-)
