This Episode I VideoCD comes in a tall cardboard box, containing a 2-disc jewel case. The box has a lid at the bottom for sliding out the jewel case. This is a bootleg. The program starts with the logo for "CeQuadrat", the same as on two Episode II bootleg VideoCDs from Thailand. (Here and here.) I therefore assume this too is from Thailand. When the film starts, there are no copyright notices or other studio logos of any kind. The disc goes directly into the Fox fanfare and the film. The sound is the original English, with English subs only for the alien languages. The files are dated April 2000, so this was released sometime around that time. I must admit, this one had me fooled. I was sure this was an official release. It bears no indication of country of manufacture, but carries the UK-style ratings labels. The "U" ratings are just stickers on the front and back of the box, but printed on the discs themselves. What ultimately gave it away was the phony UPC code. When I did an UPC lookup, the UPC belongs to a UK VHS tape for the film "Tenant of Wildfell Hall".
