Star Wars, Laserdisc, "Evergreen" FOX Video Japan, 1991

I 1991 the Star Wars trilogy films were re-released on Laserdisc in Japan. These were the so-called "Evergreen" releases, named after the promo for the evergreen Fox films on the the OBI.

The image is presented in cropped "fullscreen" format, with original English PCM digital sound and Japanese permanent subtitles. The audio mix does not contain C-3PO's "tractor beam" line. Star Wars was spread across 3 sides in the CLV format, but side 3 runs 39 minutes and could therefore not have been encoded in CAV. The films featured the "Fox Video" intro at the beginning of each film instead of the CBS/Fox intro, but the first Star Wars is the only one to not feature the CBS/Fox Video logo on the jacket.

Japanese laserdiscs command a higher price if they come with their original OBI, a price/information strip that is common on Japanese media but often discarded by the original buyer.
