Star Wars Episode I, DVD, 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment UK, 2001

Remember when a new DVD release was something special? Star Wars Episode I debuted on DVD worldwide in 2001 with great fanfare. The film was presented in widescreen with Dolby Digital 5.1 sound, including some new footage. This was a 2-disc set, with both inside artwork and a chapter guide inlay. When I scanned the case artwork I found a small notice on the back that I hadn't seen before. It appears the film is rated "U" (Suitable for all), but something in the extras caused the release to be bumped up to a "PG" (Parental Guidance recommended) rating. The UK VHS release from the previous year, and the later single-disc DVDs, were indeed only rated "U", so this is unique to the 2-disc DVD set.
