Return of the Jedi, DVD, Twentieth Century-Fox Video, Norway 2004

First DVD release of original trilogy Star Wars films in Norway. The films were issued in Widescreen only, with English 5.1 Dolby Digital surround and optional Norwegian subtitles. When selecting Norwegian from the language menu, you got translated crawls and Norwegian subtitles. These came with inside artwork and Chapter Guide inserts in full colour. While the outside cover is in Norwegian, the Chapter Guide remains in English. Initially, these were not released separately but only available in the Silver box set. The separate films do not have separate UPCs, so it is obvious they were not meant to be sold without the box. In 2010 these started showing up separately in the bargain bins, but without the chapter guide inlay. I believe this to be excess stock bought up by Norwegian media distributor Massemedia ("Mass Media"). The company had specialized in cheap video releases (many public domain titles), CDs and games since the early 90's, and had a pipeline into the Supermarket bargain bins. Thus they could flood the market with cheap overstock. The company went bankrupt in 2010.
