Star Wars - The Forgotten Scenes, DVD-R, UK 2003
|
As if it wasn't obvious, this is a home made compilation of deleted scenes and stills from the original Star Wars trilogy. Sold on eBay, something like this was very enticing before the days of Youtube.
There seems to be much effort put into this compilation. Stills and clips from the films are presented in a montage with explanatory text and tracks from John Williams' score in the background. Video clips are presented with original sound where available, and still images are left on screen for about 10 seconds, just long enough to be appreciated. To keep it fresh, there are various wipes between the stills, but it's not overdone. The 50 minute programme is split into three parts, one for each of the original films. (The Star Wars montage runs 25 minutes, Empire is 14 minutes and Jedi is 10 minutes.) Video is 4x3 in the PAL format, with LPCM audio, though the cover states "Dolby Digital". This came with a printed cover, and they even included an insert, but the general graphic design and print qualities are basic. The pixelated text on the spine is not a fault with my scanner, that's the way it appears on the cover. |
