Star Wars Trilogy (+ Caravan of Courage), DVD, Bootleg, Indonesia 2005

This is an Indonesian bootleg DVD containing the first three Star Wars films, and including the Ewoks Caravan of Courage telefilm as a "bonus". These are the 1997 Special Editions of the films, and were ripped from the official 2004 DVDs. Audio is offered in English Dolby Digital and DTS 5.1., with optional Indonesian subtitles. Navigating the menus is a nightmare, as once you've selected a film, you can't get back to the main menu.
Though advertised as a double layer "DVD-9", the disc is a regular 4,7GB disc. To fit all this runtime on a single-layer DVD they've reduced the video files to the lowest supported DVD resolution of 352x480, and inadvertently(?) re-rendered them without anamorphic enhancement in the process. Needless to say, the image quality is severely impacted by this, and vastly inferior to a proper DVD. The mastering of the disc is problematic as well, as the structure of the files are out of spec and may not be playable in every DVD player. |
