Star Wars Episode II, VHS, 20th Century Fox Video UK, 2002
Fullscreen - Hi-Fi Stereo

Episode II debuted on rental VHS in the UK in 2002. The film is in cropped "fullscreen", with Hi-Fi stereo sound. The subtitles are crudely rendered, and do not try to emulate the font used in the theatrical prints.

The "Connections" featurette precedes the film, which is dumb as it spoils the entirety of the film following it. On the Danish rental tape they placed it after the film, which is much more approriate.

After the end credits, the Episode II deleted scenes are included, feeling almost like an easter egg as there is no mention of it on the cover or before the film begins. It's a nice bonus, and it's very rare for a rental tape to include "extras".

Note that rental tapes in the UK have bigger boxes than the sell-trough tapes. This is to help differentiate them in stores and ensure that rental tapes are not sold to the public.

Rental places are generally allowed to sell off excess stock once the movie's popularity dwindles. By their very nature, rental tapes are hard to come by. Going by the stickers inside the box, this appears to have been taken out of rental circulation and sold from Blockbuster Video in the UK in 2003. In most cases they are heavily worn, the box may have been replaced and they are usually marred by stickers identifying the rental store, their stock number and/or the usual "rewind me!". Mine came from eBay, naturally, and I got lucky with the condition on this one.
