Return of the Jedi, VHD, CBS/Fox Video, Japan 1986
VHD, like CED and Laserdisc could hold only 60 minutes of NTSC video to a side. This meant that longer films like Return of the Jedi would have to be split over two discs (three sides). On this release, the two discs are housed in one, doublesized slipcover.
The VHD discs are hard to find, and when they show up they're usually quite expensive. Their numbers must be pretty low as well, and there is a crossover with collectors of the format in general that hikes up the price. Make sure you get the insert as well.
Even though the VHD system had been discontinued in 1984, a high profile film like Return of the Jedi was released on the format as late as 1986.
