Star Wars, VHD, CBS/Fox Video, Japan 1983

Star Wars and the rest of the classic trilogy was released on yet another disc based video system in Japan. The VHD system reached the Uk as well, but no Star Wars film was ever released on the format outside Japan.

VHD, like CED and Laserdisc could hold only 60 minutes of NTSC video to a side. This meant that longer films like Star Wars would have to be split over two discs (three sides).

The VHD discs are hard to find, and when they show up they're usually quite expensive. Their numbers must be pretty low as well, and there is a crossover with collectors of the format in general that hikes up the price. Make sure you get the inserts as well.
